We dedicate this month to the the art of sampling and being sampled. For years musicians have experimented with using tape and records to loop music as part of their own composition but it was the advent of disco, hip hop and electronic dance music which brought it into the mainstream. Despite criticism from some circles that it lacks the creativity of “real music” it is now such an established tool in the studio and for live performance that it is hard to deny the positive impact it has had on modern music.
This month we welcome Steve Goodall who has selected an hour’s worth of material to play for us. He’s keeping his selections tightly under wraps for the time being, so make sure you get there in good time to hear his set.
We’ll also be playing an album which but would like your help to choose it. So we’ll be having a vote… Continue reading Sampled – 30th April 2016
Live albums, eh. As artists become increasingly reliant on their live shows to bring in the cash a live album is the next best thing for hard up music fans who miss out thanks to rapidly increasing ticket prices and “secondary market entrepreneurs”.

Gurgles describe themselves as “Bradfordprogpop” and features Gus Bousfield (also of Mucky Sailor, ex of Nope and the writer of a myriad of music for tv and radio), Nanette Brimble and Bradley Cunningham… Continue reading Gurgles – Saturday 27th February 2016
With some very high profile cinematic releases happening over the next few months, we thought it was high time that Record Club went to the movies. This month we are delighted to join the fringe programme of the Shipley Street Arts Festival, celebrating the best in national and regional street performers and musicians. And a massive inflatable whale, apparently. They have a watery theme this year so we couldn’t resist doing the same ourselves. Continue reading H2Ohhh!! 27th June 2015

As Ballboy once sang Space is brilliant! It’s so vast above our heads, such a place to marvel, to be inspired by – and so silent.
Space is also something we see around us every day back on terra firma. It’s what’s immediately around us. It what’s in our heads.
The possibilities of space are limitless.
We would like to try and have a Record Club that covers that breadth, that marvel – and unlike space, people feel they can just go to it….
