Come and join us for a night of Northern Soul at The Triangle – 47 Bradford Road, Shipley BD18 3DS.
<Please note our new date for this event – FRIDAY 3rd November – not Saturday as previously advertised.>
Anne-Marie has seized control of the decks for this one, promising a scintillating set of dancfloor classics.
But she’ll leave some space during the evening for you to play some of your own Northern Soul or NS – inspired tracks, so make sure you bring some vinyl.
We’ll be set up and ready to go by 8pm. Top tunes, a fine selection of drinks and some excellent company. What a way to start the weekend!
After several successful years in the Kirkgate Centre (many thanks again guys!), Record Club is changing venues to The Triangle with our first regular evening on Saturday 7th October from 8pm.
It’s open to all with no charge and we were looking for a suitably rousing theme to kick us off. Well, the nights are drawing in and leaves are beginning to fall to the ground, so it must be autumn and that can only mean… Oktoberfest!

This theme has been sat in the waiting area of our to do list for a while and it’s finally time to take it into the operating theatre. So, nice and simply – medically themed records, artists, songs, albums, etc., etc. Doctors, nurses, hospitals, clinics, medicine (good or bad), cures, symptoms, ailments, prescriptions, coughs, colds, hearts (ache-y and indeed break-y)…
We’ll have at least one featured album and will update the website once we know what it will be (hint – there are a lot of Cure albums available). BUT there will of course be lots of room for free play so make sure you bring your own stuff along to play on the pre-loved decks and MASSIVE speakers. Be as tenuous as you like but we’re sure there are plenty to choose from.
So, come and join us on Saturday 27th May. We’re at the Kirkgate Centre, 8pm, finishing at 11.30pm. Beers and snacks are available from the well stocked cash/card bar. Excellent company. with just a £3 on the door donation to help us cover our costs.
See you there!
Our April event finds us on the road again (alright, around the corner) and back at The Triangle in Shipley. They are celebrating their 2nd birthday and have asked The Record Club to pop up on Friday 28th April.
After the fine time we had back in February (and September last year) how could we say no! This time around we are very pleased to welcome Bob Stanley from the very excellent St Etienne, (pictured left with bandmate Pete Wiggs) who will be providing a DJ set during the evening.
For the rest of the night the turntables are open to free play. But it’s free play with a difference. For those interested in playing some of their own tunes we’ll break the rest of the evening down into short sets, a bit like we did with our 7×7 night. If you’d like a spot (around 20 mins) then do get in touch beforehand and we will do our very best to allocate you some time. It’ll be more or less first come first served, so please do get in touch before the night itself if you are interested. The list is already growing.
Just want to be there and chat / listen / dance? That’s cool too!
As it’s a pop up there is no entry donation. If you don’t know about The Triangle (where have you been??) they class themselves as a “Bottle Shop/Art Gallery/Record & Curiosity Shop/Coffee & Cake Specialist” and “selling the finest beers known to humanity”. Which we think is a fair description. Non-beers are also available to purchase of course.
You can find The Triangle at 47 Bradford Rd, Shipley BD18 3DS. Things kick off at 8ish and finish no later than midnight. Hope to see you there!
There have always been musical eccentrics, particularly in England. So sure of their path, they follow it despite the moods and fashions of the day.
This Record Club applauds and gives an outlet to those eccentrics. The ones who keep on doing their own thing. And keep on keeping on. And don’t even notice that nobody else seems to be doing it like them.
So three English cheers for the ones who are not afraid to be themselves! Even if others feel that they have become a little bit, you know, weird.
This event has been put together by RC regular Darren, who did such a fine job with the At The Movies night back in November 2015. Details remain firmly under wraps but we are promised a selection of records by said eccentrics (check out the image above for clues). There will also be room for you to play your own choices so bring along your own English Eccentric vinyl for a spin.
The usual rules apply. The decks switch on at 8pm at the Kirkgate Centre. £3 entrance donation to cover costs, cash & card bar and dazzling company (i.e. you).
See you there!
For February’s event we are a week earlier than usual and in a different venue. Confused?
Nah, thought not. Not that hard really.
So, we’re popping up at our old friends The Triangle at 47, Bradford Road, Shipley. We spent a great evening there in September as part of or Saltaire Festival Pop Up event so we thought we’d do it again. And fortunately The Triangle agreed. Could have been awkward otherwise.
This one is a free play night so bring along whatever you fancy, spin it on the pre-loved decks (or ask someone to do it for you) and enjoy great music, glittering company and a range of outstanding beers (non-beers also available).
No entrance fee for this one (but unlike Club Tropicana, the drinks aren’t free)
See you at 8pm on 17th February.
We thought we’d dedicate an night to all things Rock, all things Rap and all things Rock/Rap. Perhaps not the musical smackdown suggested by Andy’s brilliant artwork but you have to have an angle, eh…!
