Come and join us for a night of Northern Soul at The Triangle – 47 Bradford Road, Shipley BD18 3DS.
<Please note our new date for this event – FRIDAY 3rd November – not Saturday as previously advertised.>
Anne-Marie has seized control of the decks for this one, promising a scintillating set of dancfloor classics.
But she’ll leave some space during the evening for you to play some of your own Northern Soul or NS – inspired tracks, so make sure you bring some vinyl.
We’ll be set up and ready to go by 8pm. Top tunes, a fine selection of drinks and some excellent company. What a way to start the weekend!
After several successful years in the Kirkgate Centre (many thanks again guys!), Record Club is changing venues to The Triangle with our first regular evening on Saturday 7th October from 8pm.
It’s open to all with no charge and we were looking for a suitably rousing theme to kick us off. Well, the nights are drawing in and leaves are beginning to fall to the ground, so it must be autumn and that can only mean… Oktoberfest!

On Saturday 9th September Record Club is hoping to repeat the storming success of the 2016 Saltaire Festival Pop Ups with err.. some more in 2017! One long day, four venues, hundreds of records and hopefully good weather (no storms of course).
Our pop ups form part of the Festival’s first weekend Open Garden Trail and we can’t wait to be involved again. Loads of details about all the events taking place at Saltaire Festival between 8th and 17th September can be found by visiting their website, following their Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, following the hashtag #SaltFest17 and by joining their mailing list.
So please come and join us and play some records at Edward St Bakery from 10am, Tambourine Coffee from 1pm, YardFest from 4.45pm and (our brand new permanent home from October) The Triangle from 6pm on Saturday 9th September. And bring some records!
The Saltaire Record & Retro Fair is a great event which takes place three times a year in the UNESCO World Heritage Village of Saltaire, West Yorkshire. It’s Record Club’s “manor”.
Organisers Caroline and Julian from Rose & Brown are great supporters of Record Club so we were chuffed to be asked to provide the necessary “ambience” as a backdrop to the browsing, digging, perusing and purchasing at their next Record Fair.
We’ll be there from 10am on Saturday 8th July at the Caroline St Social Club in Saltaire. It’ll be battle of the DJs (in as much as two people stood next to each other playing music they probably both like can be described as “a battle”).
Do come down and support this great event, pick up a bargain, a long sought after piece of vinyl or nugget of pop culture ephemera. Chance are you won’t leave empty handed.
Oh and did we mention there’s a bar…?
Before we take our summer break Record Club goes Around the World in June. As ever with our themes that’s a pretty loose brief. Get thinking albums, artists and songs with a worldly theme… Do you have any vinyl with a country in the artist’s name or in a song/album title? A continent? A topographical feature? Perhaps it’s travel related (it broadens the mind apparently)…? Maybe you have some music from an exotic or far off place – we know of one regular with an album of Hawaiian wedding music that we featured on one of the radio shows last year.
Whatever you can find then bring it along for an evening of global vinyl indulgence.
As well as enjoying an evening of eclectic treats, we’ll be saying farewell to our tenure at the Kirkgate Centre as we move to a new venue from the late summer (more news on that very soon). Paul and his team have hosted and supported us since the early days of Record Club over 6 years ago. That’s 58 events! 203 hours? And, give or take, about 3,000 tracks played. On those massive speakers! Thank you Paul and the Kirkgate Centre for all your support these past 6 years! We really appreciate it.
Ok, usual rules mostly apply. Doors open at 8pm, there’s a cash/card bar and some Indian snacks available. Entry donation this month is on a pay as you feel basis.
See you on 24th June!
This theme has been sat in the waiting area of our to do list for a while and it’s finally time to take it into the operating theatre. So, nice and simply – medically themed records, artists, songs, albums, etc., etc. Doctors, nurses, hospitals, clinics, medicine (good or bad), cures, symptoms, ailments, prescriptions, coughs, colds, hearts (ache-y and indeed break-y)…
We’ll have at least one featured album and will update the website once we know what it will be (hint – there are a lot of Cure albums available). BUT there will of course be lots of room for free play so make sure you bring your own stuff along to play on the pre-loved decks and MASSIVE speakers. Be as tenuous as you like but we’re sure there are plenty to choose from.
So, come and join us on Saturday 27th May. We’re at the Kirkgate Centre, 8pm, finishing at 11.30pm. Beers and snacks are available from the well stocked cash/card bar. Excellent company. with just a £3 on the door donation to help us cover our costs.
See you there!
Our April event finds us on the road again (alright, around the corner) and back at The Triangle in Shipley. They are celebrating their 2nd birthday and have asked The Record Club to pop up on Friday 28th April.
After the fine time we had back in February (and September last year) how could we say no! This time around we are very pleased to welcome Bob Stanley from the very excellent St Etienne, (pictured left with bandmate Pete Wiggs) who will be providing a DJ set during the evening.
For the rest of the night the turntables are open to free play. But it’s free play with a difference. For those interested in playing some of their own tunes we’ll break the rest of the evening down into short sets, a bit like we did with our 7×7 night. If you’d like a spot (around 20 mins) then do get in touch beforehand and we will do our very best to allocate you some time. It’ll be more or less first come first served, so please do get in touch before the night itself if you are interested. The list is already growing.
Just want to be there and chat / listen / dance? That’s cool too!
As it’s a pop up there is no entry donation. If you don’t know about The Triangle (where have you been??) they class themselves as a “Bottle Shop/Art Gallery/Record & Curiosity Shop/Coffee & Cake Specialist” and “selling the finest beers known to humanity”. Which we think is a fair description. Non-beers are also available to purchase of course.
You can find The Triangle at 47 Bradford Rd, Shipley BD18 3DS. Things kick off at 8ish and finish no later than midnight. Hope to see you there!
