Saltaire Record Fair – Saturday 15th October 2022

It’s soon time for our final Saltaire Record Fair of 2022. As usual we’ll be at the Caroline Social Club in Saltaire on Saturday 15th October, doors open at 10am and you’ll be met by 15 stallholders with boxes of vinyl and retro goodies. Entry is free, there is a licensed bar and the Record Club DJs will be on site all day to play tunes to keep you browsing and buying.

If you are interested in a stall for next year’s dates then head on over to our Saltaire Record Fair website for more information.

The Literary Connection Saturday 2nd July 2022

This month we explore the connections between music and literature. Paul will be taking the reins and playing, in full, Song of Innocence by David Axelrod, his 1968 debut and with links to William Blake’s collection of poems Songs of Innocence.

He’ll also be playing at least one side of Scritti Politti’s melting pot of politics, linguistics and philosophy Songs to Remember and The (mighty) Fall’s This Nation’s Saving Grace, with its own links to Anthony Burgess and Fritz Leiber.

And in between all those there’ll be space to play your own literary linked choices, so bring some of your own vinyl to play too. Or just come along and have a listen.

We’ll be starting uptairs at The Triangle at 8pm sharp(ish) and putting a brake on the wheels of steel around 11pm. There’s great drinks available downstairs at The Triangle and great company and music upstairs. A proper decent night out. See you there!

Gems – Record Club Saturday 4th June 2022

What are the pearls in your record collection? Which titles shine like a diamonds?

Perhaps you dig the Detroit Emeralds? Ruby Turner? Jewel perhaps? Grandaddy’s Crystal Lake? The Stones’ Ruby Tuesday? Prince’s Diamond & Pearls?

Why not bring along your shining examples to the next Record Club on Saturday 4th June at The Triangle in Shipley. As ever, our themes are there to be stretched to breaking point. We’ll be starting upstairs at 8pm and running through until 11pm.

See you there!

Speak Up! Record Club Saturday 7th May 2022

Our next event at The Triangle celebrates records with spoken word content. That could be the whole record or just elements within.

So, think Martin Fry’s pondering self pity in ABC’s The Look of Love, Arlo Park’s opening poem in Collapsed in Sunbeams or the collage of samples used in The Avalanches’ Frontier Psychiatrist and you’ll be along the right lines.

But don’t let that stop you exploring less trodden paths. Like all themed nights at The Record Club, the more tenuous the connection you find the better. Challenge accepted?

See you upstairs at Shipley’s finest ale / art hang out The Triangle from 8pm.

March 2022 at The Record Club. Events, Radio, Beer Festivals and Record Fairs! Hold on to your hats, Shipley!!

March is a really busy month for Record Club. There’s lots to tell you about and we hope you can get involved in at least some of what is going on in the next few weeks. So, without further ado…

Monthly event at The Triangle – Saturday 5th March

We are now back up running every first Saturday of the month at our regular home, The Triangle in Shipley.

We are keeping things simple while we continue to find our feet so this will be another unthemed night.Just bring along a few of your favourite records to play to an appreciative audience. Or if you fancy just kicking back and having a listen and a chat with your mates over a drink, that’s good too.

The wheels of steel start turning around 8pm and we finish around 11pm. You can find us upstairs and the bar is downstairs!

Record Club on BCB Radio – Tues 8th & Thurs 10th March

Two shows for you this month, you lucky things…

On Tuesday 8th March we will be broadcasting an International Women’s Day special on BCB Radio. This went down a treat a few years ago and presenters Katie, Judith, Jen & Anne-Marie have finally been persuaded back behind the mic for a much-anticipated 2022 follow up. Not to be missed.

As a result, our regular 4-weekly show is being moved back from its usual Tuesday slot by a couple of days to 9pm on Thursday 10th March. This month’s theme for Rob & Will to explore is Real People.

Record Club at Sup, Shipley Market Square – Saturday 12th March

We’re pleased to be supporting this local Beer Festival showcasing a “top notch array of beer, food and eclectic music”. Shipley legends The Triangle, The Fox, Cap and Collar and The Salt Beer Factory will be supplying the beer while amazing food will come from Hullabaloo, Mozzafella and Il Pirata.

And as a bonus between 12pm and 2pm Tony and Darren, two Record Club regulars, will be providing the eclectic music element from the DJ stage under the guise of “some of West Yorkshire’s Finest DJs”. No pressure, fellas!

It’s an event not to be missed, all undercover under a “stretchy tent” running all day from 12pm and well into the evening until 10pm. For more info follow @supbfd on Instagram.

Saltaire Record Retro Fair, The Caroline Club, Saltaire – Saturday 19th March

And to cap off a hectic March we also have the not-so-small matter of the Saltaire Record & Retro Fair at The Caroline Club.

Now in it’s 4th year under the stewardship of The Record Club and jam packed with stalls, records and pop culture ephemera. We’re really chuffed with the support we get from everyone for these fairs, stall holders and public alike, and we can’t wait to see you again for some top-notch crate digging.

As usual, various Record Club folk will be supplying the soundtrack from a tiny corner of the stage and the Caroline Club bar will be open too. Doors open at 10am, it’s free entry, and we’ll bidding you farewell at 3.30pm.

Phew! We did say there was lots going on. Hope you can join us along the way! And keep an eye on our twitter, instagram and Facebook feeds for more info.

Record Club – Saturday 4th December 2021

Ok, let’s keep it brief. We had such a good time on our return in November we’ve decided to do it all over again!

Like last month there’s no theme. Just bring some tunes and grab a spot on the pre-loved wheels of steel. Or just bring yourself to sit, drink, chat and listen. All at once or in a sequence of your choosing. We’re not fussed.

We’ll look at getting a bit more organised for 2022 (any suggestions please let us know). But for now it’s just great to finally be back and meeting friends old and new again, upstairs at the mighty Triangle. See you on 4th December!

Record Club – Saturday 6th November 2021

So, after a trial run in October our monthly events are back! We’re upstairs at The Triangle on Bradford Road in Shipley on Saturday 6th November from 8pm.

To keep things simple while we gather ourselves together again there’s no theme this month but we’d ask folk to play short sets instead of single tracks, so bring some of your favourite records, old and new.

There’s also a great range of drinks and snacks from all over the world available at The Triangle. Treat yourself!

See you there!
